The proposals, known as Kent Rail & Freight Terminal (KRAFT) and still at their early stages, are centred on the quarries and sandpits between the A25 and junction 2a of the M26 on a 250 acre site owned by CEMEX UK, Borough Green Sandpits and adjoining landowners.

At the heart of the KRAFT proposals are plans to provide local residents with a much needed and long-awaited bypass for Borough Green, as well as the opportunity to take thousands of heavy goods vehicles off the county’s road network.
